For Content Developers
To develop content titles (3 steps)
• $2500 for a cTRAIN license; annual renewal: $1000
•To create a content title ready to run in cTRAIN:
(1) NwETA creates your training ($25/screen), or
(2) you use our BuilderJr tool ($1500 Mac; Win $3500) to create the training
For either option, begin with our cTRAIN planning brochure.
• To deploy (use/present) cTRAIN costs $500-$25,000/year per company
NwETA Creates the Content Package in cTRAIN
The next step is to submit the content to NwETA in a word processing document along with the picture and movie files. NwETA will then enter the content in cTRAIN at a cost of $25 per screen. If the content must be changed to fit a cTRAIN screen size (roughly the size of a Powerpoint screen), you will receive a revised word processing document. We will inform you of the need to make changes with a cost estimate and obtain your authorization to make those changes.
Create your own Content Package for cTRAIN
Builder Jr. is a functional editor tool that a content expert can use to enter content in and create cTRAIN programs, and modify them at any time. This editing tool requires a degree of sophistication using application software, or at least a moderate degree of persistence in following a reference manual. BuilderJr is available for Macintosh 10.4 or above ($1500); it will be available for Windows XP Pro and Vista at a later time.
Post-Development Changes
Once training is developed and in use, changes will be needed to keep it current. See the Post-Development Changes page for the few changes you can make, and those NwETA must make for you (until our BUILDER Jr. editing program is completed) at a cost of $25/screen. You can make any post-development changes using BuilderJr, yourself.
Undocumented and Planned Features
The following are undocumented changes we have made in cTRAIN 2.1 recently, and features in programming or development. We encourage content developer input on features they would like to have available to them.
- Restart at same location after power failure (crash recovery)
- Add Employee Number/Participant ID input option
- Batch output data files to Excel
- Auto-update of cTRAIN over the internet (December, 2008)
- Auto-detect 9BUTTON connection and switch to & from 9BUTTON (March, 2008)
- Set pass/fail percentages [currently an editing-only option] (March, 2008)
